It has come to my attention this week that there are multiple villa rental scams in operation at the moment. Photos and descriptions of real villas taken from genuine websites are being duplicated on scam websites that trick people into thinking that they are booking an amazing villa at a bargain price. Only when people arrive at the villa do they realise they have been conned, lost all their money and are stranded with nowhere to stay.
Even when these websites were bought to the attention of Trading Standards, Action Fraud and the website host, they are still operating, taking bookings and making money from unsuspecting holidaymakers. It seems nothing can be done to protect the consumer from being conned. My advice as a travel expert is to always book through an ABTA and ATOL bonded travel agent who only uses verified and trusted suppliers when booking villas to guarantee a safe, secure and happy holiday experience.
